Trevor Lee Signs MLW Deal as Reigning Champion
Trevor Lee, formerly known in WWE as Cameron Grimes, signed a contract with Major League Wrestling and will defend the MLW Southern Crown Championship. The 32-year-old wrestler returned for select appearances after his WWE release, including a match against Mistico at MLW Eric Bischoff’s One Shot, Battle Riot VIII in January and several Fusion tapings. Lee captured the title in a Bunkhouse Stampede match against Andrew Everett, Beastman, Diego Hill, Festus, Ikuro Kwon, Jesus Rodriguez, Josh Bishop, Matthew Justice and Paul Walter Hauser.
Lee expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity at MLW, citing partnerships with CMLL and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. "I’m just excited to be able to really kind of do anything," he said. "These past couple of years, I’ve been kind of waiting on a good opportunity and I feel like MLW is kind of presenting that opportunity."
MLW has attracted several former WWE performers, including Matt Riddle, Killer Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux, Shotzi Blackheart, Donovan Dijak, Bishop Dyer, Austin Aries, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson and Priscilla Kelly. Founder Court Bauer brings WWE production experience to the promotion, which Lee praised for its quality presentation and lively crowds.
Lee aims to prove his in-ring prowess beyond character work. "I just want to be able to show that I’m more than just like a comedy promo act. I can have these elite tier matches," he said. He hopes to face Aries, Riddle and Dijak, along with talent from CMLL and New Japan.
