Boston Scott, a 5-foot-6 running back who played college football at Louisiana Tech University,[1] announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday via a statement on his social media accounts.

The 30-year-old, born January 6, 1995,[1] wrote that his decision brought mixed emotions. "There is so much I’m proud of," Scott stated. "I don’t feel sorry for myself in the slightest. There is anger, bitterness, but also joy, and happiness... plenty of things to feel. But even if you work your hardest to accomplish something and fall short, why can’t the next thing that you invest in do great things? There’s joy in that too."[input]

Scott went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints before joining the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad later that year.[2][3] He appeared in 64 regular-season games from 2019 to 2023, primarily with the Eagles, rushing for 821 yards on 195 carries with 18 touchdowns.[3]

Scott earned the nickname "Giants Killer" for his performances against NFC East rival New York Giants, rushing for 246 yards and five touchdowns in four regular-season matchups.[3] He also played in seven postseason games, including three carries for seven yards in Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023, a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.[3]

Scott's last regular-season game was on January 7, 2024, when the Eagles defeated the Giants 27-10 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.[3] He signed with the Los Angeles Rams on August 28, 2024, but was released on September 17 without appearing in a regular-season game.[4] He then joined the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad on October 16, 2024, and was released on October 29.[5]

In his statement, Scott credited coaches, teammates and staff for their support, noting his path from a college walk-on to the NFL. "I'm thankful for everything the game has given me and my family," he added.[input]

Off the field, Scott became a co-owner and content creator with esports organization Dignitas in May 2023.[6]
